Big Sand Beach is also ideally situated for seeing wild flowers where many varieties of wild flowers can be found in this region especially wild orchids during March and April. There are 17 varieties of wild flowers in Northern Cyprus found nowhere else in the world.

Turtle watching. Golden Beach is also famous for its turtles. Big Sand Beach Restaurant and Bunglows, Karpaz Penninsula, Northern Cyprus is an ideal location for observing the turtles, as it overlooks Golden Beach. Nesting takes place end of June and beginning of July and hatching between end of August and beginning of September. Northern Cyprus is internationally renowned for its logger-head (Caretta Caretta) and green (Chelona Mydas) turtles.
