WHERE IS THE GOLDEN BEACH ?
You can spend the day sunbathing and swimming on the beach where you will find miles of golden unspoilt sand with fantastic clear blue sea and the great thing is that the beach is never crowded so is always very peaceful.
There are a couple of places of interest nearby: the St.Andreas Monastery and the Cape where you will see the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot flags flying side by side on the top of a hill overlooking the sea. This is the most northern tip of Cyprus and as far as you can go. The Cape is not an advertised or marked tourist site but one of the staff at Big Sands will be pleased to direct you there. This is definitely a site worth seeing whilst in Northern Cyprus especially at dusk to watch the sun set. The nearby traditional village of Dipkarpaz has some very good quality restaurants worth a visit and you will find the quality of service and hospitality of the people there very high. You will also find small shops and supermarkets there. This is one of the few places you will find in Northern Cyprus where Turkish and Greek people still live side by side. |
